This short self-drive between Gothenburg and Stockholm allows you to travel independently through this lovely part of Sweden. Enjoy the historic Bjertorp Manor in the picturesque Swedish countryside. There are countless options for relaxing walks along the lakes, swimming, reading a book whilst enjoying the long summer nights. With a car, you are in a perfect location to explore the Vänern and Vättern lakes and the countryside of Sweden.
NOTE: This tour can also run in opposite direction from Stockholm to Gothenburg.

Day 1 - Arrive in Gothenburg and visit Liseberg amusement park
Arrive Gothenburg, the second largest city of Sweden and make your way to your centrally located hotel. If time prevails, enjoy the cafe street, head off for a summer concert or ride at Liseberg amusement park.

Leaving Gothenburg, head towards Bjertopr Manor. If you happen to be a Saab fan, the Saab Car museum in the town of Trollhättan is a must visit. Beautifully located next to Göta Kanal, it is also a perfect lunch stop on the way. Continue your drive to Askersund and check into beautiful manor hotel Bjertorp Manor .
Bjertorp Manor is perfectly located between Vänern (the biggest lake in Europe) and Vättern. Built in 1914, this is Sweden's youngest art-nouveau castle. Each room has an individual design and the hotel recently had a complete renovation. There is a private golf course on the gorunds and a lovely old world bar to enjoy.

Today’s journey takes you towards Stockholm. On the way, visit Örebro castle, more than 700 years old and rich in Swedish history. Enjoy some lunch in the beautiful open-air museum of Wadstena. Continue to Stockholm and stay overnight in Hotel Rival, walking distance from King’s Castle and old town Gamla Stan. The ABBA museum is highly recommended and tickets can be booked beforehand.
