Why book with 50 Degrees North

Booking a holiday is a significant investment for most. At 50 Degrees North we want to ensure your piece of mind when making your choice of travel company. Here are a few good reasons to book with 50 Degrees North.

24-hour on the ground emergency service

When travelling with us, you will have access to a 24-hour emergency number in locally. Our Norway office will look after you if anything arises during your trip that affects your travels or the enjoyment of your holiday. We will always be just a phone call away.

Destination knowledge taken one step further

At 50 Degrees North, we take expert knowledge seriously. That means we have destinations specialists from more than one Nordic country in our team. Most of the Nordic countries are represented; i.e. we have staff from Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland in our team and are proud to say we have expertise across the region rather than only from one of the countries.

Great local relationships & over 25 years of experience

At 50 Degrees North, we work very closely with our partners on the ground, be it hoteliers, local guides, dog mushers, ship operators or the local Santa Claus. We work with a select few boutique properties and solid partners and build close relationships with them, rather than spreading our business thin offering any hotel or service there is.

With over 25 years in the travel industry, we know the tricks of the trade, as well as the pitfalls of e.g. booking with large online hotel booking engines. Our hotelier partners candidly tell us that 50 Degrees North clients will often be upgraded or given that little bit extra while those coming through a large online booking engine will be the first one to be bumped out or given the small pokey room behind the reception. Once that happens, it is near impossible to get hold of someone to complain to at that large online company.

It is not always what it seems - marketing can be deceptive!

We take care of the little things

  • Which side of the train should I sit on?
  • Will there be a cruise ship docked in the little fjord village I'm staying?
  • How do I get from/to the airport in the most affordable way?
  • Are they constructing a new building in front of my hotel?
  • What are the tourist traps?
  • What shall I wear in minus 30 degrees Celsius?

When booking with us we will answer you all these questions. Our travel documentation is detailed and up-to-date. And if you don't ask we will still make sure you are sitting on the right side of the train.

The company owner is near

In true Scandinavian style, our organisation structure is flat - as flat as Denmark. 50 Degrees North is a small family-owned company with owners that are engaged in the everyday running of the business. When you call our sales line, our owners may well be the ones answering. And why are we telling you this? Because should you at any stage have an issue or a complaint, it will go straight to the top. We take tremendous pride in what we do and if we make an error we will be there to do everything we can to rectify it straight away, not letting you wait the customary 30 days.
