Tranøy

Tranøy lighthouse is the highlight.

Tranøy Lighthouse is remarkably scenic, with a spectacular view across the Vestfjorden to the high mountains of the Lofoten islands. Tranøy Lighthouse is accessible by road, with a footbridge that leads to the lighthouse.

In 1993 the Tranøy site opened for tourism, with accommodation in the houses and a pleasant cafe in the boathouse. There is also a lighthouse bar to enjoy!

Tranøy lighthouse is in prime whale watching territory. In the summer of 2010 Tranøy guests enjoyed a visit of whales at their doorstep. For some hours on a beautiful summer evening under the midnight sun guests were treated to a visit of a group of Pilot whales. In late autumn and early winter Orcas regularly visit the waters near the lighthouse.
