Orkney Islands

Windswept Scottish isles in the North Atlantic.

Whilst close enough to main land Scotland to enjoy good connections by ferry and plane to the UK, the Orkney Islands enjoys the feeling of remoteness. Locals have their own Orknedian accents with their own dictionaries. Windswept rocky outcrops dominate the landscape. This region is an archaeological minefield with the famous 'Skara Brae' a highlight. Touring and hiking is very popular with friendly B&B's, glorious coastal walks and empty beaches.
