Halifax

The British established Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1749. From culinary events and professional sports, to local art, comedy and live music, there’s no shortage of things to do in Halifax. Surrounded by sparkling ocean, a working port, plenty of local artisans, seasonal vendors and year-round businesses, the Halifax waterfront boardwalk is the easiest place to spend a day in Halifax. It’s one of the world’s longest downtown boardwalks, and there is always something happening, including the annual Halifax Busker Festival and the Halifax Jazz Festival mainstage.

Further afield, the Eastern Shore region of Nova Scotia is a stunning paradise of beaches, wildlife, outdoor adventure and more. This rural section of the Halifax region is home to popular local attractions such as Fisherman’s Cove and Memory Lane Heritage Village.

With countless pristine beaches, including Martinique Beach Provincial Park and Lawerencetown Beach Provincial Park, it’s the perfect destination for surfing, swimming, strolling and soaking up the summer sun.

For those history buffs, visit the Halifax Town Hall and enjoy the views from the Citadel-crowned hill overlooking the city. This colourful gateway town is both hip and historic and well worth an extra day or two before you head back home.
