Day 1 - Arrive in Tallinn from either the ferry from Helsinki or airport, guided walk in the Old town in the afternoon.

Arrive on the morning ferry from Helsinki or airport and have a private transfer to your hotel to drop off luggage. Your guide will meet you here for a short 'meet and greet' to make your arrival comfortable.

After lunch, meet your private guide for a 1.5-2 hour walking tour which goes through the two sharply contrasting parts of the Old Town: the Lower Town, once a free trading town and member of the Hanseatic League with its guild houses, warehouses, a unique Gothic Town Hall, dwellings of prosperous merchants, and churches with charming slender towers; and Toompea or the Upper Town, the seat of German landlords and their houses from the 18th-19th centuries. You also visit the biggest churches: the Alexander Nevski cathedral, an active Russian orthodox church, built just over 100 years ago, and the Dome church, the church of the local German nobility for centuries, which contains a valuable collection of their family coats of arms. The church itself is one of the oldest in Estonia and is built in the Gothic style. From the viewing platform you can see a panoramic view of not only the Old Town but also the rest of the city.

Day 2 - Tallinn with a day trip to Lahemaa National Park

After breakfast, depart to Lahemaa National park for a return day trip. This is opportunity to learn about the diverse Estonian cultural history and see the Lahemaa nature preserve situated at the Gulf of Finland east of Tallinn. The most attractive part of Lahemaa is indeed the nature - bays, forests, bogs, limestone cliff and huge boulders. Lunch is included during the day.

Enjoy a short walk at Oandu along the 'beaver trail'. It passes through the Altja River valley, in which you will see a diversity of plant and animal life. You will spy beaver activity in the valley too: the dams they build, their dens on the banks of the river and the trees whose trunks they gnaw through. We will visit beautiful manor houses of German landlord families dating back to the 18th centuries (Palmse or Sagadi manor). At the idyllic captain's village of Käsmu we introduce you to Estonian seafaring past. The village was home to a maritime school, and virtually every family had its captain or coxswain..

Return mid-afternoon to your hotel.

This morning, private transfer to the bus station at 8am for a four hour drive to Riga with a lounge pass. On arrival, again private transfer to your hotel.

This afternoon, head out on a private walking tour of Riga including entrance to the Dome Cathedral and a visit to see the view from St. Peter's tower. The tour encompasses the most significant sights of Riga. Enjoy the beauty of this ancient Hanseatic city, while strolling through the cobble-stone, picturesque streets of the Old Town. Day 4 - Day tour to Sigulda and Turaida Castle

This morning, meet your guide and head off on a 5 hour private day tour to Sigulda and Turaida Castle. In the ancient Gauja valley, shaped by the River Gauja and its tributaries, dozens of stone castles were erected and occupied in addition to the many castle mounds that were built by earlier locals. This area has the greatest concentration of castles not only in Latvia but also in Eastern Europe.

Experience a genuine whiff of the Middle Ages a time of romantic legends, castles and heroic figures. Travel through gently undulating farming lands to the beautiful Gauja River valley. On the outskirts of the old town of Sigulda are the ruins of the 13th century Crusader Castle, and fabled sandstone grottoes that are guarded by statuesque birch trees. The wild beauty of Turaida Nature Reserve stretches out below you and gaze from the tower of Turaida Castle.

Vilnius, Lithuania's capital, is known for its baroque architecture, seen especially in its medieval Old Town. But the buildings lining this district's partially cobblestoned streets reflect diverse styles and eras, from the neoclassical Vilnius Cathedral to Gothic St. Anne's Church. The 16th-century Gate of Dawn, containing a shrine with a sacred Virgin Mary icon, once guarded an entrance to the original city. Join your guide for a 3-hour private guided tour of the old town.

Day 6 - Day trip to Druskininkai, Lithuania's premier spa town.

Meet your guide and transfer to Druskininkai - Lithuania's premier spa and southernmost town located 140 km from Vilnius. Picturesquely set on Nemunas river and surrounded by pine forests with wonderfully fresh scented air. A one day trip to the town features its main attractions: neo-gothic Church of the Virgin Mary of the Scapular, Ciurlionis Memorial Museum, Jacques Lipchitz Memorial Gallery and Grutas Park, a unique park where pompous statues of soviet revolutionaries and political leaders, once dominating squares of Lithuanian towns and villages, have found their shelter after being removed more than 10 years ago. To date, no other museum or cultural institution has endeavoured to collect or duly exhibit Soviet relics. In Grūtas Park, monumental sculptures are positioned in a 2 km-long exposition, where guard towers, fragments of concentration camps and other details resemble Siberia. Grūtas Park is situated on a 20 ha area, exhibiting 86 works by 46 artists. Such a large concentration of monuments and sculptures of ideological content in a single out-door exposition is a rare and maybe even unique phenomenon in the world.

According to some sources, the site of present day Druskininkai was inhabited by local Yotvingian tribes in the early Middle Ages. In 13th century, the area was conquered by Lithuanian population where they have built a small castle to defend against the Teutonic Order (Order of the Teutonic House of St. Mary in Jerusalem). The castle was destroyed in 1308 and the area was soon depopulated. The first mention of present day Druskininkai dates back to 1636 with the root of name meaning "salt" (druska lt) which suggests that locals have been collecting this precious mineral. In late 18th century, the discovery of healthiness of Druskininkai areal water has started asthma treatment. In early 19th century, I. Fonberger, Vilnius University professor, focused on analysis of chemical composition of Druskininkai waters and discovered that it contains large amounts of calcium, sodium, potassium, iodine, bromine, iron and magnesium which has contributed to promoting Druskininkai as holiday resort for Lithuanians and their guests.
