Blue Lagoon Iceland Handy Tour Tips
Soak in a lava field & fine dine in your dressing gown - make the most of your visit to the Blue Lagoon.
The Blue Lagoon water has high levels of silica. Silica is not harmful to hair. However, if you get your hair wet from the water, it can become stiff and difficult to manage. We highly recommend you apply conditioner to your hair and leave it in while you bathe. Complimentary conditioner is provided in the shower area.
Children aged 8 and younger must wear floaties. These are available at the entrance to the lagoon and can be used free of charge. And the minimum age for using the Blue Lagoon is two years old.
During the day, light reflection in the lagoon can be substantial. We recommended wearing sunglasses, to minimize the effects of this reflection. Also, if it’s sunny, be aware of potential sunburn and consider using sunscreen.
Blue Lagoon offers safe luggage storage, where you can store your bags while bathing. The luggage storage service is located at the parking area.
When you arrive you will be given a wristband, which acts as a key for your changing room locker. You can also use the wristband to buy drinks and refreshments at the spa area. It works like an in-water credit card.
We recommend that you store all your valuables inside your locker. This includes all jewellery, shoes, cameras, etc. Be sure to check that your locker is properly locked before you walk away.
Staying in hot water for long periods can cause dehydration. It’s very important to keep hydrated at the Blue Lagoon and we urge you to drink and eat before and during your Blue Lagoon visit (see note below). This is especially important for those suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure or other related conditions.
The centre can be busy in the peak season so talk to our Destination Specialists about the timing of your visit.
When can you fine-dine in your dressing gown? With the Nordic chef of the year Viktor Örn Andrésson at the helm, stay for a meal at the LAVA restaurant. Perched up high with a view over the Blue Lagoon, enjoy a top meal with local Icelandic ingredients. Only until 4pm, by the way.
Seriously, have a glance at the upgrade massage packages on offer before your visit! An in-water 30 min massage in a private area of the lagoon (60 EUR) is something to consider or perhaps a Volcano facial using local minerals and rocks....
