Tallinn Christmas Market

We love the annual Tallinn Christmas Market - voted best Christmas Market in Europe.

The enchanting Tallinn Christmas Market opens late November and runs until mid January each year. Held annually in the town square, visitors can browse through and buy wares by skilled artisans in merchant stalls surrounding the enormous Christmas tree. Sellers offer traditional and original gifts including felted wool hats and slippers, buckwheat pillows, wooden bowls, wickerwork, ceramic and glassware, wreaths and other decorations.

Food is also sold in the market, most of which is organic. You can enjoy trying the Christmas sweets & gingerbread and of course, the obligatory warm Mulled wine is served until 10pm each night.

The locals also run many quaint competitions throughout the weeks of the Market - best decorated Christmas biscults, best decorated Christmas tree and so forth.

Old fashioned Merry-Go-Rides entertain the youngest of the family, and the market becomes a temporary home for a family of reindeer. Along with the reindeer, Santa Claus arrives by the first Advent, and welcomes children in his cottage at the market square, every afternoon.

A Christmas Jazz Festival accompanies this market. Similarly, you will find beautiful music concerts in the churches of Tallinn throughout the festive season. Our Romantic Tallinn tour is designed around this festive program
