5 days - Remote Norwegian tour, staying in designer accommodation.

"Here are no shops, and no cars. Here is no stress, and no dangerous animals. The arctic hideaway - simplicity at its finest"

Fordypningsrommet is the creation of Håvard Lund, a well-known Norwegian musician from the area of Gildeskål in Nordland, Norway. This Arctic sanctuary by the sea is architecturally unique set among the barren islands and skerries of Fleinvær - with the next stop westward being Greenland.

The place is created to take you away from the everyday hustle and bustle of city life. A detox from the modern world where the sky is big, and the stars bright. Enjoy the midnight sun in summer, northern lights in winter, and everything in between.

This tour is designed as a relaxing island experience with a strong connection to the local community, and for you to connect with your inner self. Extend your break by ferry-hopping across to the Lofoten Islands. Håvard closes the sanctuary off to others when you arrive - you will have the place to yourselves. No interference or sharing the peace and quiet with others!

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive Bodø and transfer to your hotel

Arrive and transfer to your hotel. Bodø is the 2024 European Cultural Capital and you will learn why as you explore this small, Northern Norwegian town. Explore the city center of Bodø and experience the fantastic street art that decorates large buildings around the city. You will find many graffiti artworks, but also the art project NorlandiART is worth checking out – here several artists have had their works hung outside various buildings in the city. As you explore, you will find many designer fashion shops as well.

Hire an electric bike to explore the seashore before watching the sunset on one of Bodø's two sky bars; Top13 on the top floor of Radisson Blu Hotel Bodø and Roast on the top floor of Scandic Havet. Both bars have great cocktails and lovely views of the city, sea and mountains.

Day 2 - Express ferry ride to your sanctuary by the sea

Today, you can explore the new museums in Bodø such as the Jekt Trade Museum , where a traditional Norwegian cargo vessel, jekt Anna Karoline, is the main attraction in the new museum. Or you could do an optional tour out to the world’s strongest maelstrom, Saltstraumen. Check the tide times though as you want to visit when the tides are changing.

The express boat departs from the central Bodø harbour in the early evening. Before you board we recommend dinner at Kaia, or at Roast Restaurant on the 17th floor of Scandic Havet Hotel.

The express boat trip takes 45 minutes stopping at island communities along the way. On arrival you will be met by your host before you settle into your cabin.

Day 3 - Detox at Fleinvær

Spend the day enjoying the magnificent island scenery, the birdlife and the tranquil silence. Depending on the season your host may take you for walks telling you about the area and its history. You may also be lucky enough to join one of the local fishermen out at sea where you can try your luck.

Among the island wildlife you may find otters, sea eagles, grouse, geese, various sea birds, seals and the occasional porpoise.

The local fare consists of seafood, and other local produce. The season and weather will decide what is served.

Day 4 - Return to Bodø by express boat or continue by boat on to Lofoten or Helgeland

In the mid morning return to Bodø by express boat and stay over night or continue your travels to Lofoten or south along the Helgeland coast.
