'Inside the Volcano' tour - Day 2, Reykjavik

Once-in-a-lifetime natural wonder to visit during your stay in Reykjavik. You do need to be prepared for this tour - it involves a hike to get to the opening of the volcano (hiking shoes need to be used) & a hole in your top pocket.  We recommend booking before you arrive as the activity is run in small groups with limited numbers. But it is an experience not to be forgotten.

Hot springs to visit along the way

Let hot springs relax and calm you as you take in the spectacular views.

Listed below are some of the hot springs you can visit along the route;

Leaving Reykjavik on Day 3, you can visit this small local natural hot springs on the Siká river, Hveraborg natural bathing spot.

Near Mývatn, you can visit the Mývatn Natural Baths and Steam Rooms as well as explore Víti. Víti is a huge explosion crater, about 300 metres in diameter. The crater was formed during a massive volcanic eruption at the start of the famous Mývatn Fires in 1724. The eruption continued more or less non-stop for 5 years and Víti's bubbling cauldron of mud boiled for more than a century after that. Víti is situated near Krafla and there is a tarmacked road leading up to it from highway 1. Swimming is possible in this crater.

On the road between Siglo Hotel and Búðir Hótel is the Hofsós baths set on the foreshore with peaceful views over the sea.
