Day 1: Reykjavik
Individual transfer from Keflavik Airport or Reykjavik domestic airport by scheduled airport bus to your hotel in Reykjavik. Reykjavik is an intimate city with a big personality and some striking landmarks - stroll down to the harbour to visit the Armoury, the new concert hall, the design streets and city hall.

noneDay 2: Pick up your 4WD and head south to the Golden Circle.
You will be given an individual transfer to the car-rental office in Reykjavik. Pick-up of the rented car. A description with farm guesthouses addresses and a detailed road directions and itinerary will be handed over to you on check-in at your hotel in Reykjavik.
Today is known as driving the Golden Circle: erupting hot springs at Geysir, Gullfoss waterfalls and Þingvellir National Park. The Gullfoss waterfalls are Iceland's most popular and easily accessible from Reykjavik, therefore, rather crowded in the peak season. These two-tiered waterfalls are spectacular and involve a short walk from the car park.
Þingvellir is one of the most frequently visited tourist sites in Iceland where you can become better acquainted with Iceland's history and traditions. You can join guided tours of the site and also find short hiking trails to help you explore Þingvellir National Park. Approx. 160 kilometres

1 x BreakfastsDay 3: Explore Kjölur, heading up into the Highlands.
Today you will cross the highland in the north direction on the route Kjölur. You will drive a plateau between two large glaciers, Langjökull and Hofsjökull.
You can stop and explore the geothermal area Hveravellir. Approx. 160 kilometres

1 x BreakfastsDay 4 & 5: Head for Lake Mývatn and explore the many wonders of the area
Head North today, towards Lake Mývatn to explore the many wonders of the area. You have two days in this area to make day trips - possibly tour Askja, a geographic wonder. The region is only accessible for a few months of the year. Being situated in the rain-shadow to the NE of the Vatnajökull icecap, the area receives only about 450 mm of rainfall annually. The area was used during training for the Apollo program to prepare astronauts for the lunar missions.
Drive through the vast lava terrains via Herðubreiðalindir. Take time out to dip in the geothermal pool at the crater Víti. Approx. 240 kilometres

2 x BreakfastsDay 6: Drive the Black sands of Sprengisandur
Drive the black sands of Sprengisandur back South, with rough tracks as well as crossing unbridged and unpredictable rivers.
In Nýjadal, it is ideal to have a lunch break and walk in the green valley. Approx. 200 kilometres

1 x BreakfastsDay 7 & 8: Volcanoes around the Landmannalaugar
This morning you drive to Landmannalaugar. The Landmannalaugar is the hiking hub in Iceland's highlands. The area displays a number of unusual geological elements, like the multicolored rhyolite mountains and expansive lava fields. The many mountains in the surrounding area display a wide spectrum of colors including pink, brown, green, yellow, blue, purple, black, and white.
After lunch you will drive Fjallabaksleið towards Eldgjáto and Kirkjubæjarklaustur. You are based here for two nights. Close to the Laki glacier, you can book glacier walks and other options in the region.
For the second day the schedule is to go on a day trip to Lakagígar, visiting the Laki crater. It is a 25 km row of volcanic fissure that erupted in 1783.
Lots of adventures in the area and you have the means and the time here to do it. Approx. 100 kilometres

Today is heading back to Reykjavik.
At the end of the day, you will be required to drop-off the rented car at the car-rental office in Reykjavik. You will then receive an individual transfer to hotel in Reykjavik. You will get details about the exact time you need to do this when you pick up the car. Approx. 150 kilometres
