Day 2: Copenhagen Walking tour

Copenhagen has over the years become one of the world’s gourmet capitals. The city boasts 11 Michelin stars divided over 10 restaurants, and is home to the world's best restaurant, Noma. The 2011 Bocuse D’Or Gold winner, Rasmus Kofoed also calls Copenhagen home where he runs restaurant Geranium. The city is also abundant with everything from small cosy pub style eateries, cafes with great coffee and establishments serving world class local beer.

Copenhagen is a wonderful summer city with numerous city squares and patios where restaurants open up to the street. The city centre is pedestrian and bicycle friendly, which creates a peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere. At the small harbour inlet of Nyhavn you can enjoy a nice meal at one of the harbour side restaurants, or just buy a cold beer at the local bottle shop, sit down and enjoy the slow pace of life.

We have included a walking tour of the inner city in order to get you acquainted, as well as picking up some tips on hidden gems found in the great little backstreets and alleyways of Copenhagen.

Included is also a Copenhagen Card valid for 24 hours, which gives you free access to most museums and attractions, as well as free public city transportation.

Day 3: Drive to Dragsholm Castle

In the morning you will pick up your hire car at the car hire office in the centre of town setting off towards the western part of the Sjælland Island with map and GPS in hand. Driving in Denmark is not daunting at all, but is on the right hand side of the road. Well out of Copenhagen we recommend you take the back roads towards the west finding your way through tranquil countryside villages. You may also want to schedule a stop at Roskilde to visit the Vikingship Museum (http://vikingeskibsmuseet.dk/en/).

The day is yours, as checking at Dragsholm Slot is from 3pm, and dinner is served after 7pm that evening. Watch out for ghosts this evening as Dragsholm Castle is notoriously haunted. Approx. 3 hours drive to get to Dragsholm Castle.

Day 4: Enjoy Dragsholm Castle and surrounding area

Dragsholm is one of Denmark’s oldest castles. The name Dragsholm means “the islet by the drag”, where the “drag” refers to the isthmus that connected Odsherred with the rest of Zealand before the reclaiming of Lammefjorden. Since 1200, the islet has been the site for a Dragsholm Slot – from the original palace and then medieval castle to the present baroque castle.

The castle is situated in a beautiful and ever-changing natural surroundings, and is not far from the fjord. It offers great enjoyment all year round and many kinds of activities.
