We embark for Longyearbyen by boat, on our way we will have time to enjoy the fantastic fjord, the bird cliffs and the animal wildlife. Far away from the civilization in Longyearbyen you’ll discover a history, biological diversity and geological conditions which make Basecamp Isfjord Radio a fascinating place to visit. The former radio station is situated at the outermost part of the Isfjord with majestic mountains overlooking the Arctic Ocean. In combination with our unique accommodation, you will enjoy a level of quality and comfort that is unexpected so far into the wilderness.

Day 1: Arrive Longyearbyen

On arrival at Longyearbyen airport the airport shuttle bus will take you to Basecamp Trapper’s Hotel. In the afternoon you are free to explore Longyearbyen on your own. We recommend dinner at one of the excellent restaurants in town (not included/should be booked in advance). Accommodation in double room at Basecamp Trapper’s Hotel (or hotel with similar standard).

Day 2: Boat to Isfjord Radio

Breakfast is served from 0700am. After breakfast you will be met by your guide for short briefing about the trip, equiment and outfit details. Transport to the quay, where our polarcircelboat is ready to start the safari tour towards Isfjord Radio. On the way, we have time to enjoy the fantastic fjord scenary, animal wildlife and Arctic seabirds. After arrival and station welcome we will be served a 2‐course warm lunch. We spend the afternoon exploring the great area of Kapp Linné, and learn more about the wildlife at the station. We’ll be served a 3‐course dinner in the evening. Accommodation in comfortable double rooms at Basecamp Isfjord Radio.

Day 3: Return to Longyearbyen

Breakfast and a new day of experiences. We take a hiking trip eastwards along the beautiful coastline. The guide will tell you stories about our old hunters and their challenging life at Spitsbergen. We learn about the area’s geology, flora and fauna. We return to the station for a 2‐course lunch, before we board the boats and head back to Longyearbyen. Arrival Longyearbyen approximately 1500 hrs. Dinner is recommended at the legendary Huset restaurant (table should be booked up front). Accommodation at Basecamp Trapper’s Hotel or similar.

Day 4: Trip finishes in Longyearbyen

Breakfast is served from 07:00. We recommend taking a dog sledge trip on wheels before departure (not included/should be booked in advance) and exploring Longyearbyen and its sights on your own. Transport to the airport in the airport shuttle.
