Important Information
In order to participate on tours with the Norwegian Trekking Association you need a membership. If you or someone in your group are not allready members, this can be done easily by contacting us. Membership is NOK 530 for individual membership, and is not included in the trip price. Reduced rates for family membership is available.Terrain Rondane covers a varied mountain landscape of high peaks, lichencovered plateaus and lush valleys. The park is dominated by the high peaks, narrow ravines and deep valleys of the Rondane massif. The poor bedrock supports only a sparse vegetation of mainly lichen and heather. Boulders and scree make the access difficult at times.

Day 1: Train from Oslo to Hjerkinn
Meet up at Oslo Central Station at the top entrance to the platform 20 minutes before departure. Departure by Trondheimstoget 14.17 (dep. Oslo Airport Gardermoen 14.45), arrival Hjerkinn 18.50. Accommodation in Hjerkinn Fjellstue (1017 m).

To Hageseter, heading south in open landscape, last part steep down to Grimsdalshytta (1000 m), 5 hours walking.

GrimsdalshyttaFrom its beautiful location with cultural buildings, Grimsdalshytta affords a panoramic view of the Rondane mountains. Here in the Grims Valley, the terrain is open, and around the lodge there are many easy hikes. The lodge has 54 bunks, in two-bunk and four-bunk rooms, a larger room and a dormitory. All bunks have duvets and pillows with covers. Please use your own hut sack. You can also put the duvet aside and sleep in your own sleeping bag. Hut sacks and bedclothes also are available for rent at the reception desk. The lodge has a diesel generator (220 VAC). Nonetheless, it's wise to have a torch in your pack, because the generator is turned off around 23.00 in the evening. Privies, showers and a drying room are located in a separate building.

Heading south at the westside of the mountain Gravhøe (1267 m) to Haverdalssæter (1040 m), 3 hours walking.

Up to Rondhalsen (1647 m) and along the lake Rondevatnet til Rondvassbu (1167 m), 5 hours walking.

Rondvassbu lodgeRondvassbu lies in the middle of the Rondane range as is extremely popular, with tempting peaks in all directions. The lodge is located at the south end of Rondevatnet lake. Svartnuten peak towers behind the lodge, and behind it lie a string of peaks - Vinjeronden, Storronden and the highest of them all, Rondslottet (2178 m).
The lodge has 128 bunks, in two-bunk and four-bunk rooms and a dormitory. All bunks have duvets and pillows with covers. Please use your own hut sack. You can also put the duvet aside and sleep in your own sleeping bag. Hut sacks and bedclothes also are available for rent at the reception desk.

In to the wide valley, Illmanndalen. Part of the trail is rocky. Through birch forest to Bjørnhollia (914 m). 6 hours walking.

Bjørnhollia lodgeBjørnhollia is a staffed lodge with 90 bunks and lies south in the Rondane range, with its sheltered valleys and splendid scenery. Variety is close at hand - summit hikes, strolls or fishing. The lodge is a gem; in 1984 it was awarded the Muncipality of Sel Architecture Prize for the best trekker facility in the mountains. You'll definitely feel at home here.
