The home of Santa Claus and the most visited town in Lapland, Rovaniemi is best in winter when the landscape is clad in a winter white blanket of snow. The city of Rovaniemi thrives on tourism and has abundant holiday activities on offer, such as reindeer sledding and snow mobile rides. There are also abundant wellness centres with spas and saunas for the more leisure traveller. Just outside the centre of town is Santa Claus Village, which undoubtedly is its main attraction during the month of December. Views of the northern lights (Aurora Borealis) are also frequent in winter time.
