Akureyri is a small Icelandic town centred around it's port. It is an easy place to stroll around, visiting little museums, botanical gardens and the new cultural centre at the port. There is a large tourist information centre at the base of the town and you can get lots of information there as well as internet connections. Be sure to check out the great bookshop and cafe in the main town mall. It is a lovely spot of sitting and watching the locals as well as checking out some 'cool' Icelandic merchandise.
